Monica Guech

Born in Liverpool in 1986, at the age of 2 she moved to Spain with her parents. At the age of 12 she started taking vocal technique and piano lessons and by the time she was 14, she started composing her own songs. Four years later she attended the Modern Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona and performed in different Gospel Choirs on concert tours around Spain. Several years later, she became the lead singer of a funk group. In 2009, Monica decided to start her solo music career, presenting her own songs. That year she recorded her first demo and produced her first video clip of her single “Loving”. At the same time, she started singing in theatres and music clubs. She also participated in various song writing contests and was a finalist in (Puro Cuatro & Concurso de Cantautores Guinardó). After a year working hard, in February 2011 she entered the competition to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest. She performed in several television shows and got to the Final show as she was one of the favourites. Monica did not get the full support from the Spanish judges as she sung in English and in their opinion she should have sung in Spanish for the show. Nevertheless, she was praised by the musician Albert Hammond, a special guest and judge on the show.

In December 2011, she released her Dance-House debut single “Leave me alone” with the Spanish producer and DJ Quique Tejada.  The single gained success after being heard on Europa FM Radio.

In September 2012, she auditioned for the first season of The Voice (in Spain) singing “Someone like you” from Adele.  Two of the judges turned their chairs around (Malú and Rosario Flores) she opted to be on Rosario’s team. She reached the final show singing “Empire state of mind” from Alicia Keys.

A part from her music solo career, in 2013 she becomes a member of Acoustic Soul. A trio band with the Spanish guitar player “Luis Robisco” and the Spanish drummer “Paquito Escudero”. The group released their debut album on December 2014. Their repertoire included elements of flamenco and soul music.
