Ángela Furquet

Angela is a singer and singing teacher, graduated in Jazz and Modern Music Taller de Musics, Barcelona specialised in Estill Voice Training (Voice Craft)

She has just recorded her first solo album (June 2014) “De Sol a Son: Cantos del Trabajo”,  in which she is composer, arranger, lead singer and percussionist.

The album was produced by Carlos Denia and Aleix Tobias and was recorded with the musicians Judit Nedderman and Kathy Sey (vocals), Toni Saigi(piano) Toni Porcar(spanish guitar), Miguel Angel Cordero (double bass) Aleis Tobias (drums and percussion), Pau Figueras (spanish guitar)Valentin Murillo(flute), Adrià Plana (electric guitar), Luna Aragón (violin) Loli Nycz(viola) Sandrine Robillard (cello), Tóbal Rentero (arabian lute), Sonia Rodriguez (vocals).

Angela began her music studies in the Espacio de Jazz de la Universidad Jaume I in  Castellón under the tuition of , amongst others, Ramón Cardo and Bob Stoloff. In addition she has studied vocal technique with Viv Manning, Silvia Perez Cruz, Ana Finger, Maureen Scott and Daniel Zangger Borsch. She is currently studying guitar and traditional percussion.

She joined the vocal group Coda in 2012’? ,with whom she recorded their second album Back to 6. Coda presented this material at Luz de Gas in special staged show directed by David Vert. The group went on to tour Back to 6 in a number of venues and festivals in Spain, including the GPS, the Festival de Jazz  Getxo , Festival de Jazz Tortosa as well as the prestigious Jazzahead  festival in Bremen Germany.                                   Angela has also worked as vocalist with the UJI big Band (direction Ramon Cardo) as well as with a number of groups covering a wide range of musical styles including jazz, brasilian music, cuban music , argentinian folk. She has worked with musicians of the caliber of the pianist Ricardo Belda and saxophonist Kiko Berenguer with whom she performed in the Jazz Festival in Lugo 2008.

She has been teaching vocal technique, music theory, improvisicion and singing laboratory in Eolia since 2007, forming part of the teaching team of the Escola Superior de Arte Dramàtic Eolia.  ESAD, since its foundation in 2012. Having qualified as master teacher (CMT) in Estill Voice Training in 2010 she has worked as teaching assitant for Viv Manning on several official Estill courses  for voice profesionals (singers, actors, voice therapists, and voice specialists) including Hospital Universitario de Puerta Real, Cádiz, 2011; Hospital San Juan de Dios de Santurtzi, Bilbao 2012.
